Tao Suan Attack

Lately, MooMoo is having 'Tao Suan' attack and she kept having craving to eat this dessert.  Tao Suan is one of the Hokkien snacks, which is cooked with green beans.  It is cooked with split green (mung) beans together with sweet potato flour and sugar.  It seems simple but you have to cook it with the right portion so that it will not be too watery or too sticky, else it taste yucky!  It is best eaten with you tiao!

Not many of MooMoo's friends are aware of this snack, except for Singaporean friends.  It is hardly found in West Malaysia but it is more common in MooMoo's hometown and Singapore.

Lately, MooMoo found this new store which is quite good with their Tao Suan.  The shop is located in NEX Shopping Mall in Serangoon.

Coco Ichibanya Curry ^=^

MooMoo have been wanting to try this curry for quite some time but never tried till today.  Coco Ichibanya!!! (Coco = Here, Ichiban = No.1, Ya = Shop)  Hahaha... maybe all the chatting about curry with the girls in Koala-land makes MooMoo craves for curry.

Well, personally MooMoo think that it's quite good.  When you're stressed and unhappy, it's always good to have yummy food and great company to chase away all the dark clouds.  MooMoo ate the Fried Chicken Curry Rice while her buddy ate the Pork Cutlet Curry Rice.  Both tasted good, with the set, which comes with a mini salad and a choice of drink, or to have option for dessert (ice-cream).

After all the sinful curry, MooMoo went for a dose of yoghurt ice cream.  Hahaha! All the extra calories.... gotta work it off during the weekends! :p

MooMoo feels better after all the indulgence and chit-chatting. = )))

Healthy Lunch Box

MooMoo got inspired by the 2 buddies in Koala-land and Minnie, to cook her own meals.  MooMoo decided to cook some eat-in lunch box.  She will start with some easy to cook food.  Monday's healthy lunch box will be Bolognese Linguine (minus the cheese powder) with pan fried Salmon, seasoned with some Oregano herbs.
This is how it looks.  Looks presentable?!?  Hahaha.  At first, only put some sauce but it does not look enough, so added more to it.  Then it looks drowned with all the sauce.  Anyway, more sauce better than not enough sauce.
MooMoo should start to cook more often so that she can eat more healthy too.  Tapir tempted her to make Sushi but that one need more work.  MooMoo still have some Inari tofu pockets in her fridge to make Inari Sushi.  Hahaha.

* Hope no Monday Blues tomorrow... Looking forward to Pilates and Step tomorrow night... Just hope someone is not on sudden MC... :p

Steamboat

MooMoo is not a big fan of steamboat but she did enjoyed herself eating away at a gym buddy's house warming dinner on Saturday night. There were so much food that everyone ate till so full.  It was really yummy!  It was MooMoo's favourite Tom Yam soup.  There's also 4 fingers chicken wings as starters and yummy cakes for desserts, ending it with a big glass of Choya.

* Luckily, MooMoo burnt all the extra calories doing Step and Sculpt today... ^=^

Pancake day!

Everyone was talking about pancakes the other day and MooMoo suddenly have this urge to eat pancakes.  This morning, MooMoo decided to have a 'pancake' breakfast with Minnie.  1st time making pancake and it didn't turn out that bad.  It's yummy!!!  Need to improve on the thickness and the shape of the pancake though.  Hahaha.  Minnie mentioned that other people's pancakes all round-round and can stake up nicely.  It was a deserving healthy breakfast after a session of early morning Pilates.

* MooMoo taught her 1st Pilates teaching session with Minnie as her volunteer student.  1 down... 9 to go...  = )))

I LOVE TAIMEI! 我愛台

One of MooMoo's favourite is "I LOVE TAIMEI" (我愛台).  This is MooMoo's dinner tonight, her favourite combo set "Xiao S", which comes with Popcorn Chicken and you can choose your own side dish and drink.  MooMoo usually go for the sweet potato and Lemon Iced Jelly.

Thumbs Up!!! Yum... yum... yummy!!! ^=^

Here's a sample of their menu on the available set and the choices of side dishes.  Piggy and Minnie are also a big fan of "I LOVE TAIMEI!" (我愛台).  Must bring Tapir go try one day.

Currently, in Singapore, there are only 3 branches; 1 in Bugis Street Market, 1 in Bugis Junction and 1 in Raffles City, City Hall.

* Tomorrow MooMoo must go burn all the excessive calories accumulated during CNY, eating all sorts of junks and sugared drinks, plus today's Tai Mei.... targetted to do 5 classes... Hope MooMoo don't pengsan... Hahaha!

Chinta Manis -> Yummy!

Recently, MooMoo quite like this place called "Chinta Manis".  It is actually a Peranakan Patisserie which specialises in handmade Nyonya Kuehs and serves a range of yummy traditional recipes.

MooMoo only tried out the Nasi Lemak, Mee Siam and some of the kuihs.  It's all very yummy... except for MooMoo's favourite Teh C Peng is just so-so.

MooMoo is not a big fan of Mee Siam (one of Mo's favourite) but she likes the dry Mee Siam that is being served with Otah.  It is slightly different from the usual wet Mee Siam available.  Actually, in MooMoo's hometown, the Mee Siam is all dry ones.  MooMoo still recall that her favourite late aunty can cook very nice Mee Siam.

Then, there's also MooMoo's favourite... Nasi Lemak!  You can choose Nasi Lemak Ayam or Nasi Lemak Daging... both tasted good.  The beef is very tender and tasty.

Well, if you want to try it out, you can visit one of the outlet in Novena Square, Level 1.  There's one at Changi Airport Terminal 2 as well.  ^=^

* MooMoo had great fun in STEP tonight and especially Mon night.  After long stressful day at work, it feels great, sweating it out while having FUN!!!  ^=^

Durian Feast with Colleagues

Last, last Friday, after work, MooMoo went "Durian Feast" outing with her colleagues.

It has been quite some time since her last outing with colleagues.  There used to be monthly food outings last time. Guess everyone is just too busy and things changed when there are also a lot of changes in the company.

Anyway, after work, MooMoo's colleague suggested to catch a bus to Balestier road  as the recommended Durian stall is there....it was not a good idea... coz very bad traffic jam. After one hour bus ride, feeling hungry, MooMoo ended up a bit sick.

Before heading for Durians, MooMoo and colleagues went to have a light dinner at Boon Tong Kee Chicken Rice place. The food there tasted quite good. Yummy!

After that, they headed for desserts, the "Durian Feast". The initial shop that they wanted to visit, ran out of stock for Durians....  = (

The shop is called,"Combat Durian", pretty interesting huh... Haha!!  MooMoo wonder after eating the Durians, can do Combat! = p

After all the effort going all the way there, they decided to eat at the next stall.  It's not that bad after all. MooMoo ate 3 types of Durians, "Mao Shan Wang" - Cat Mountain King?!?  Haha... "D24" - no idea why is it called D24... sounds like bra cup size... then lastly, "Butter Durians".

Everyone was satisfied after the meal and the Durians.  Yummy Yummy!!! But, personally MooMoo thinks that it is definitely cheaper to eat Durians back in Malaysia and really eat all you can.  ^=^

* Eating Durians makes MooMoo think of Piggy... and also Chicky family... =p

MooMoo's urge to Bake

Lately, MooMoo just have this crazy urge to bake... as well as to do crafting.  The "ART-ATTACK" season is back!!!  Well, it started with Piggy saying that she wanted to make Tiramisu before she left to Australia...  Then, she left her bottle of Kahlua at Chicky's house, ending with we never tasted the Tiramisu and she's already residing in "Down Under" now.

Since there's a bottle of Kahlua sitting there... might as well do something with it, instead of letting it collecting dust... Haha!  Then, 2 weeks before MooMoo's landlady and ex-landlady came to MooMoo's house wanting to do Tiramisu.  This makes MooMoo even more excited in making it herself.  ^=^

In the end, she decided to go buy all the ingredients and start out her "Project Tiramisu" this weekend.  It took awhile for MooMoo to buy all the ingredients, especially the lady's fingers and Mascarpone cheese.  MooMoo tried out the Classic Tiramisu, which is easier to make.

The following ingredients are required:-
1. 6 eggs, separated
2. Mascarpone Cheese 500gram
3. Lady's Fingers 300gram
4. Sugar 150gram
5. 3/4 Litre Strong Coffee
6. 50ml Kahlua/Brandy/Bailey
7. Cocoa Powder

Separating the egg yolks and the egg whites are a challenge to MooMoo.  She killed one of the yolk.  Haha! And just that one small little mistake that left a drop of yolk in MooMoo's egg whites, caused her so much trouble.  Arrgghhh!!!! :p
MooMoo actually started making the Tiramisu around 10pm on a Saturday night, hoping to finish everything by 11pm, as the whole process should take about less than an hour.

1st, you separate the eggs and you beat the egg yolks with the sugar till smooth and creamy.  After that, you add in the Mascarpone Cheese and mix them well.  Then you can add a bit of brandy inside but it's optional.  Once it's done, you can whisk the egg whites till fluffy and add in to the Mascarpone Cheese mix.  Fold in from bottom to top.

Everything went fine with preparing and mixing all the ingredients, till when it's time to whisk the egg whites.  Nightmare!!! It usually takes about 5-8 minutes to whisk it till fluffy and stiff but MooMoo whisk it for almost an hour and it didn't get stiff at all.... till MooMoo give up and decided to continue the next day.
She stored everything in the fridge and threw away the egg whites' failure.  Before she sleep, she went to google and found out the reason.  The slightest grease can fail the whole thing.  =.=""

The next day, MooMoo went to buy new eggs to try again.  Now, there's 6 yolks sitting in MooMoo's fridge.  Think it will end up in the dump since MooMoo don't cook.  Tapir suggested to do something with recipe that needs egg yolks only.  Good idea but weekdays usually no spare time for baking.

This time round, the whisking of egg whites were successful.  Yeah!!!  At last... people takes 1 hour to make Tiramisu... MooMoo took 2 days to complete the whole task.  Sweat! LOL...
After all the mixing is done, you can prepare the layering.  You will have to prepare your coffee and make sure it is cool down before you start dipping your lady's fingers in the coffee.  Dip front and back to lay them nicely in the tray.  After laying one layer of biscuit, cover them with a layer of the Mascarpone Cheese mix.  Then repeat the same thing over again for another layer.
Finally, top it up with sprinkling of Cocoa powder at the top layer.  Voila!  It's all done and you can store it in the fridge for at least 2-3 hours before you serve them.
Personally, MooMoo thinks that making it in the clear small container is better than in a large baking tray.  It is more presentable and you can check out the thickness of the layer you have applied.  Plus, the biscuits will not move around when you apply the Mascarpone Cheese mix.  It's also easier to serve in small containers.  You can just use a spoon and dig into it.  Haha!
Well, here's MooMoo's virgin 'Tiramisu Making'... Hope it will improve the next round...  ^=^

* MooMoo actually skipped her favourite Balance class today... =p

Coffee Stars - Yummy!

MooMoo had a sinful tea break with Piggy today after shopping the whole afternoon.  We went to a Thai Cafe called 'Coffee Stars' at Level 1, Wisma Atria in Orchard.  We ordered a 'Blueberry Cheesecake' and 'Caramel Cheesecake'.  It's really Yummy but it's quite pricey though.  One piece of cake cost about $7 to $9.  The total bill is actually about $37++ for 2 cakes and 2 drinks.

There are also other varieties like Strawberry, Mango, Green Tea, Durian as well as Chocolate cakes.  We didn't order Chocolate cake coz Piggy is not a big fan of Chocolate cakes.  Piggy wanted to eat the Durian cake but MooMoo not a big fan of Durian cakes so we end up ordering 2 Cheese cakes.  Haha.  There are also other main dishes but we were just stopping by for some cakes and drinks.

Apparently, the review online state the services were good but when we were there, we only see black faces of waiter and waitresses.  Maybe, Piggy and MooMoo went at the wrong timing as we even met black face customer sitting next to us, giving us the death stare, even when I tried smiling at him.           LOL!!! =p

HaPPy Meal! ^=^

Today, MooMoo's Chinese teacher is not free so there's no class in the morning.  MooMoo went for an early morning Balance class, which is not her usual Saturday routine.  It feels great after a good stretching workout.

After the workout, MooMoo happened to bump into an old ex-colleague.  Therefore, we ended up lunching together and catch up on things.  After splitting up, MooMoo went window shopping for awhile, before heading home to have a leisure Saturday at home.

On the way home, MooMoo got so tempted and ended up buying a whole set of 'HAPPY Meal' for tea break, which is a heavy one.  Hahaha.  The new Crispy Chicken Burger is yummy as it is made out of thigh meat, so it's not too dry.  MooMoo also tried the new Chicken McBites, which is just so so only.  She topped up the meal with an 'Expresso Latte'. Yum! Yum!  ^=^

* Tomorrow must go SHOPPING spree to burn off all the extra calories...  Just hope that MooMoo don't burn too big a hole in her wallet instead.  Hahaha...  It has been quite a while since MooMoo last go shopping.  Looking forward to go shopping with Piggy tomorrow.

Feels like 'JAP'...

Today MooMoo just craves for Japanese food... dropped by 'Ichiban Sushi' after her gym workout.  MooMoo only did Step and Balance today but ate so much.  Gosh... Input more than Output... Equation not very right... Need to have more Output tomorrow.  Hahaha!! =p

MooMoo ordered the 'Hotate Nabe' set that comes with Sashimi Salmon and her favourite Chawanmushi, as well as Teriyaki Chicken.  Yummy!!! ~slurp slurp~
After her main meal, MooMoo ordered some some sushi too.  She ordered her favourite California rolls and Inari Sushi.  The waiters and waitresses kept looking at MooMoo... must be wondering how come MooMoo eat so much.  LOL!!
After that, MooMoo top it up with the 'Japanese Cheese Cake' for dessert and her favourite 'Iced Latte' from McCafe.  Enough for the day... Hahaha.

PORN for Dinner?

Today, MooMoo had dinner at this interesting restaurant called "PORN's".  The name of the restaurant sounds a bit x-rated yea... Hahaha!  It's not the porn that you are thinking about.  It's in Thai and this restaurant is called "PORN's" because it belongs to this Singapore TV Host celebrity called "Pornsak Prajakvit", who are trying to promote sexy, Thai food.  MooMoo didn't really discover the sexy part but the food is quite good and quite authentic.

Their logo is quite cute... showing an elephant's butt... Hahaha...

Well, nothing is impossible... as long as you dare to dream it and do it... there's always miracles when you believe.... ^=^

Seafood Pad Thai... Nice!

Snacks: Tauhu Goreng

Fried Kangkung... simple but tasted quite good...

MooMoo love the Tom Yum soup... haha... only managed to take the picture after drinking half bowl....

MooMoo didn't get to try a lot of dishes as there were only 2 of us.  She didn't even try the drinks as they wanted to eat the desserts around the area.  If you are around the area, you can drop by and check out the restaurant, if you like Thai food.  ^=^

Address:
28, Liang Seah Street
Singapore 189049
(Nearest MRT: Bugis)

After a scrumptious dinner, MooMoo ended her day with desserts.  She took "Gingko Barley with Peanut Riceballs" while her friend took the "Red Beans with Riceballs".  YUMMY!!!  Definitely boosted her Serotonin count today.... ^=^

The Tasting Room

Last Tuesday, MooMoo went to meet up her dance mates for dinner at this place called "THE TASTING ROOM" at Marina Square, #01-08. One of her dance mate came across this review at "Hungry Go Where" website and decided to check out this place.
This is how the place looked like from one side. It looks good huh... but the other side just does not match coz they didn't paint the wall. Guess that's why they only show one part of the restaurant in the website as the other side is quite a turn-off. If you visit the place, you will get what MooMoo meant... LOL!!
The menu looks pretty interesting... they have 50 unique and interesting selection of wine by the glass to match each different main meals you chose to have. MooMoo personally thinks that if you're a wine lover, maybe you like the place but MooMoo is not really a wine lover.
Here's a quote MooMoo found while flipping the menu... Interesting huh?!? A quote for people who loves to drink wine...^=^
Each ordered a different main meal and MooMoo ordered the Seabass with Basil Infused Lime Reduction. The food is not bad but MooMoo didn't order wine to go with it.
MooMoo knows nothing much about wine when her dance mates start talking about the color, smell and taste. i.e. wine with body, wine with after-taste, dry or sweet, with balance, etc. MooMoo will never be able to tell which is good or bad wine unless it's really different.

MooMoo took the set meal so they will start you off with either Soup of the day or Salad of the day. The Salami Salad tasted quite good.
This is one of the main dish that my dance mate ordered, which is the recommended 'Duck Confit'. She ordered wine to go with it.
This is the recommended 'Rib-Eye Steak' ordered by another dance mate to go with wine.
This is how MooMoo's Seabass looked like. It's quite Yummy and the portion is quite big or just nice for MooMoo's big appetite. Hahaha.
And lastly, the set meal comes with either 'Ice Cream' or 'Soft Drink'. The ice cream portion is really small and MooMoo didn't really like the Ice Cream. It's honey with fig flavour. Guess it's just personal preferences coz MooMoo just dislike the taste. MooMoo not very satisfied with her finishing dessert. =p
Overall, MooMoo gives it a 3 out of 5 only for food and ambience. MooMoo would not mind going back to the place as the food is quite OK but she would not purposely go all the way to Marina Square for the food. MooMoo spent about $30 for dinner there.

Maybe it's unfair for MooMoo to comment overall including the wine coz she didn't drink the wine there. They have choices of different types of wine for you to match with your Main Course. In addition to that, the house pours of wine is quite cheap. So, maybe those wine lovers would love this place. ^=^

* MooMoo had a great yummy meal today... Piggy's home cooked meal.... TLC Carbo loading for tomorrow's Yellow Ribbon Prison Run... Ganbatte!! ^=^

TLC Supper Treat

After long and exhausting 6 hours++ flight from Lion City to Kimchi-Land and about 1 hour taxi ride from Incheon International Airport to Somerset Palace at Jong-No, where Piggy stays in Seoul... MooMoo and Minnie is welcomed with a nice, hot, TLC Supper treat.

Dish#01 - Brinjal
Dish#02 - Big Prawn
Dish#03 - Tofu and Mushroom Soup
Dessert - BONO cheese cake

* It's real amazing... eating with Piggy that night in Kimchi-land when just the night before, MooMoo was just eating with Mr. and Mrs. Chicky in Lion City. So far and yet so near... Hehe...
