* Lately, MooMoo keep hearing BAD news here and there and MooMoo's heart really aches... come to think of it... guess sometimes some terrible things that happened in our LIFE is not that bad after all... *sigh...

Sunset@Laban Rata

After the safety briefing and resting for awhile, MooMoo and gang headed down to Laban Rata Hut for Buffet dinner. Gosh… had to go down the flights of stairs again… really lose appetite looking at the stairs but had to go down coz damn hungry....

Since we reached a bit late, there were not much food left and we had our quick pathetic dinner. Anyway, after the long tiring hike, MooMoo didn’t have much appetite… We just eat to live so that we have enough energy for the 2nd part of climbing....

Well, at least after the dinner, MooMoo have fun taking pictures at the balcony of the Laban Rata Hut. She managed to take some sunset pictures at Laban Rata.

After resting for awhile, MooMoo and gang navigate back up to Pendant Hut with their headlights. The skies grew dark very fast over at KK. MooMoo went for a hot shower before hitting the bunk.

* MooMoo keeps anticipating the climb early morning next day... maybe think too much till can't zZz whole nite... either that... or just can't bring herself to zZz so early without online? hahaha...

Buy Headlight ->> Free Batteries? ^=^

MooMoo went to buy 'Headlight' at Bugis Market today. Need to replace the one that she borrowed from Ms. Mo. MooMoo's friend accidentally broke the batteries' cover so she need to replaced it for Ms. Mo. She went to the place where Piggy went the other time but ran out of stock. Luckily a few shops away still have one last piece.

MooMoo remembered that time when Piggy bought hers, it could not work at all.... so she asked the guy at the shop to help test it out for her. He was so nice coz after he test... he asked if I want to buy any batteries... MooMoo told him that she has her own batteries at home... After that, he told MooMoo that he give the batteries for FREE. Hahah...

So, buy headlight get FREE batteries... and this time it lighted up nicely and bright... ^=^

Climbing Adventure Day 1

The night before the climb, MooMoo and gang had a sumptious 'Steamboat' dinner at Cottage Hotel, Kundasang. Carbo loading... hahaha.....

MooMoo and gang left the ‘Cottage Hotel’ at 845am on Thursday (10th March 2011), heading to the Kinabalu Park HQ for climbing permit registration.

After our lenglui tour guide, Yvonne helped us with the registration, each of us were given the climbing permit tag with numbering and our names on it. We had to hang it around our neck all the time throughout the climb.


MooMoo and gang started the adventure well by taking a group picture with our mountain guide at Timpohon View. Our driver and guide were very nice and sweet… they actually stopped for us to take some nice snapshots since they noticed that the view of the mountain was great that morning as it is not covered by clouds.

At Timpohon Gate, MooMoo and gang started off the climb at 915am. All are well equipped with the walking stick and full of spirit at the beginning of the climbing journey. Hahaha….

Our mountain guide is called ‘Arnold’… Not Arnorld Swarchenegger but can be as strong and as fit as him. Haha… Piggy’s BFF’s so called dear “Abang”… He's giving us one short briefing at the Timpohon gate before started our journey....

There were insufficient porters when we were there so Arnold ended up being our mountain guide cum porter, having to carry 5 people’s stuff in Piggy’s big backpack, which is in total 18kgs. Halfway up the mountain, he ended up carrying Piggy and Piggy’s BFF’s little backpacks as well. Hahaha… Well of course it is not Free. We paid about RM144 in total but in the end we tipped him a bit since he's been kind to all of us.

It started quite well at 1st with everyone looking fresh… after the 3rd km, MooMoo started to get a bit tired but she managed to motivate herself by keep snapping pictures along the way….managed to snap pictures of cute squirrel and some flora and fauna along the way.

Though the journey may seem to be a short distance of 6km in total, it is a real tiring and challenging journey with all the never-ending flights of stairs and rocky, uneven routes. MooMoo can usually run 10km in about 70mins, which is 1 hour plus BUT she took about 1 hour for each km’s hike. Imagine that…

It didn’t get any better when it started to rain heavily. The hiking became more difficult when it is wet and slippery. Most of the time it is quite scary especially when you're alone. Everyone was hiking at different speed and the guide is most of the time with Piggy... motivating her all the way. So, the rest of us have to 'chap-sang' (* in canton - take care of yourself...haha...)

MooMoo didn’t listen to instructions and didn’t bring her raincoat, assuming her newly bought windbreaker stated ‘stained’ and ‘wet’ proof. Well, it didn’t worked that well… her new Columbia windbreaker, which is white color got a bit stained and wet after all the rain. Anyway, after thorough washing, it looks 90% new now. Hahaha...

Anyway, MooMoo was real lucky that she met a nice guy while sheltering at a resting booth on the way up to Laban Rata. The nice, sweet guy gave his raincoat to her. Thanks to him that MooMoo ended up not that wet after all. Too bad didn’t get his contact to thank him. Wanted to return it to him when reached the top but can’t find him after that.

After 3-4 hours hike, MooMoo stopped by a resting hut to eat her packed lunch, which was simple fried rice with egg. MooMoo only ate half the pack of rice as she had not much appetite though damn hungry…. Maybe due to being too tired…

MooMoo started her journey again after fueling up her hungry tummy. She managed to reach Laban Rata around 330pm. She was so happy to see the hut at the end of the Summit Trail. She happily spend some time taking pictures before heading to the hut.

BUT later MooMoo got so disappointed when she turn round the corner….the Pendant Hut sign lead up to a flight of stairs ….OMG!!!!

MooMoo had to slowly drag herself up the stairs… with another member from her gang…”Little Red Riding Hood”… hehe…

Both reached the Pendant Hut@Laban Rata around 3:45pm. MooMoo was so happy to 'at last' reach on time for the ‘Via Ferrata’ briefing. If not, will be disqualified from the ‘Via Ferrata’ activity the next day.

In total, MooMoo took 6 hours and 30 mins for the tiring 6km hike.

At 4:30pm, Piggy at last reached the hut as well with the mountain guide. Arnold had helped stressed her all the way to make her reach on the dot. Congrats, Piggy!!! You made it too. All of us make it on time.

Our mountain guide, Arnold was damn tired and hungry. After unloading our stuff, he quickly go grab his late lunch/early dinner.

Almost fainted when they showed MooMoo the room and the toilet…. More stairs after all the flights of stairs. Gosh… lucky the guy at the Pendant Hut was so nice to carry our bags up to our room for us.

MooMoo was so tired that she didn't even remember to snap picture of the room. Hahaha... this picture was taken from Piggy's camera. Thanks to Piggy for the picture... ^=^

* to be continued.... on Day 2 adventure... going to zZz now... had a GREAT time at STEP class 2day despite my aching right knee. The 1st STEP class since my KK trip... ^=^

Tip of Borneo... At Last...

MooMoo and gang had a good night zZz and woke up fresh the next morning for their 'Tip of Borneo' trip. All backpacks goes to the back of the van and off we go after our early breakfast. Our lovely, funny guide was very nice and friendly. She brought us for late breakfast again and ta-pau some food for lunch for our trip as the journey is about 3 hours from KK town.

On the way... we actually stop by to buy some snacks, like BBQ corns and some junk food. Think we keep buying and eating non-stop during the trip.

After long 3 hours sitting in the van... listening to 'IPOH FM'... Piggy and her hometown B.F.F. we actually reached the 'Tip of Borneo' a.k.a. 'Simpang Mengayau'.

MooMoo actually visited KK few years back and wanted to visit 'Tip of Borneo' but didn't make it due to some crazy, idiotic driver who wanted to bring us there by his Kancil...

This trip we made it there but the weather was not good so we didn't get to spend much time there and walk around the beach and all. Anyway, we left our footprints there... and snap some good shots with the grey skies right before it rained heavily....

If the weather was Sunny, the pictures would look even better.... Anyway, it gives different feel... hahah...

Just so tempted to take a picture like this here... pointing to the little Island at the horizon... not sure what Island is that though... ^=^

Reaching KK...

The trip was supposed to be from 9th till 12th March 2011 BUT due to no flights flying from SG to KK on the 9th with the right timing... we had to fly in 1 day earlier and stayed a night in KK town. We checked in this hotel up on the hill, called 'The Palace Hotel'.

The hotel was very nice with lots of facilities like gym, swimming pool, jaccuzi and all but we didn't really get to use them all coz we just spent 1 short night there and take off early next morning to start our journey to 'Tip of Borneo'.

After checking in the hotel, we all went out for a late dinner/supper coz we were all damn hungry. We went to eat at 'Pappa Rich' having all the local Malaysian food like Prawn Noodle, Char Kueh Tiaw and Dry Curry Horfun.... drinking Teh Tarik. ^=^

Didn't really have time to try all the local food coz our trip is pretty short and timing is really tight... but overall, our food during the trip ain't that bad... just that we didn't get to eat the famous SEAFOOD. MooMoo ate it the last round in KK but just can't remember how it tasted...

Virgin Climbing Adventure: MooMoo Made It! ^=^

MooMoo made it to the PEAK during her Virgin Mountain Climbing. Thank GOD she made it up and down safely though she's a bit disappointed she could not see the rising of the 'egg-yolk' at the mountain peak and did not manage to do the 'Via-Ferrata' activities signed up.

MooMoo and her gang was saying maybe all should train up and try to climb to the peak again in 2 years time to make it to see the rising of the 'egg-yolk' and complete the 'Via-Ferrata' activities. Well, things are unpredictable... will see in 2 years time. Hehehe... ^=^

Below is a summary of the KK Itinerary:

Day1: 8th March - Reach KK town – Check in The Palace Hotel - go Supper
Day2: 9th March - Tip of Borneo Day trip – long journey
Day3: 10th March - Day 1 Climb to Laban Rata through Timpohon Trail
Day 4: 11th March -Day 2 Climb from Laban Rata to the Peak
Day 5: 12th March -Poring cancelled – detour to market then to Airport


* MooMoo didn't realize that the climb is that tough... legs aching for 5 days... knees really busted after the climb... getting old dy...keke....

Lazying during Weekends...

Something unusual in MooMoo's weekend routines...

MooMoo did not go to GYM at all on Sat and Sun. Initially, supposed to go for a running workshop in Geylang Serai CC on Sat afternoon but ended up staying at home coz raining heavily. Hmm... maybe MooMoo just finding excuse to stay at home. Hahaha...

She's even so good gal that she went to church. Yea... 'Amazing Grace' leh...

Other than attending the mass at church, MooMoo actually spent whole day at home doing her 'ART' project. It was something pretty satisfying... as she have not touched any of her craft stuff for a very long time... can't even remember when was the last time.

MooMoo ended up sleeping at 3am watching HK drama while doing her 'ART' project.

The next day, supposed to go out to GYM for some stretching classes and Yoga BUT... ended up going for late brunch with Chicky and family. After that, did a whole day of housework cleaning up the whole house, tidying up the room, changing all the bedsheets and throw away all the unwanted stuff. Guess that's also a form of exercise. Hahaha...

Really must get back to GYM for usual routine soon. Must get back in shape in order to make it for the coming 2 half marathons in May. One 12km coming up for training in early April

* Just noticed this phrase from a book I bought... "How many chances do you have to get it RIGHT?" Hmmm... not many I guess....

Countdown to KK...^=^

Tomorrow evening, MooMoo and Piggy will be heading to KK....

And the coming Thursday they will head up the Mount KK. Hope both will conquer the mountain by conquering ourselves to reach the peak... Hope can see the rising of the egg yolk at the peak...
