GE Women10K 2010

This year’s goody bag have got more stuff compared to the previous year but the handbag quality is not that good compared to the FILA bag last year. The MIZUNO running T is not that attractive either. The best running T so far is the one from ADIDAS.

This year, MooMoo reached the starting point on time BUT she is running all alone. Her colleagues are joining the event as well but running the 5km instead of the 10km.

Due to Halloween, runners with costume can win themselves prizes for the best dressed. MooMoo didn’t manage to capture all their pictures but manage to capture a few. There were ghosts, witches, cats, angels, devils, etc…

At one point of them, MooMoo was motivated to run faster coz she spotted a cat running faster than her in front... with the tail wagging at MooMoo, like saying 'buh-bye'.... hahaha... but that cat can really run in her outfit... salute her!!!

Overall, MooMoo thinks that this year’s GE Women 10K is more organized and she enjoyed her run. At some point of time when MooMoo starts to slow down at the 10K route, the funny cheerleading team actually helped motivate her a little. Plus, the weather was pretty good that day. Thank GOD for the smooth run....

MooMoo is so happy that she beat her own best timing during the run though she haven’t got the official timing results yet. ^=^

Adidas Additions

My 1st pair of 'Adidas Trainers'

MooMoo used to only have 'NIKE' stuff BUT lately, MooMoo started to collect some 'ADIDAS' stuff too. The above is MooMoo's 1st pair of 'Adidas Trainers' which she used for light training for my run of about 5-8km and for her favourite STEPS or other cardio classes at the gym.

MooMoo was looking for another pair of running shoes but she can't find any nice designs that she like at both NIKE and ADIDAS shop. Guess, she just have to wait for the right pair to come by.... Hmmm...suddenly, it sounds like waiting for the right guy to come by. Kekeke...

Anyway, there's some new ADIDAS additions... Thanks to MooMoo's BRO!! ^=^ He initially wanted to sponsor a new pair of running shoes for SGD150 but MooMoo could not find any that she like. In the end, she bought a new pink running jacket, a running tights and a training tights with the money. MooMoo only started to wear the training tights... Hope to wear the new running tights for the 'Standard Chartered Run' end of this year.

What is a "FRIEND"?

What is a "FRIEND"?

I guess everyone would have a different definition of "FRIEND"....
Some people may define it as...
- soulmates
- companion
- someone to share happiness
- someone to share sorrow
- someone to keep the loneliness away
- makan kaki (eating partner)
- activities kaki (activities partner)
- someone with mutual benefits
- etc...

For MooMoo, she thinks of "FRIEND" as the following...

When you're down, thinking of your friend brightens you up,
When you're happy, you just can't wait to share with your friend,
When you see something nice, you think of your friend,
Things that they do can make you laugh till tummyache,
And sometimes it could also make you cry deeply,
You can just sit next to each other without talking but still feel happy,
Or sometimes you can just talk non-stop with each other even when you see each other almost everyday.... and you can even understand each other without having to say it out after all.

Everyone can have dozens of friends in their lifetime but to have "GOOD FRIENDS" whom you can count on can be pretty difficult. Once you find such "GOOD FRIENDS"... do cherish them in all ways... Even when "GOOD FRIENDS" do not meet up as often, once they meet up, they can still chat and bond like they were never apart before... ^=^

EQ training: Amygdala Hijack

MooMoo went for a training called ‘Great Relationships at Work’ and in short, it is called ‘GR@W’. It was a pretty useful 2 days course with an interesting trainer.

Though some of the things taught were not new, it is how the trainer presented and enlightened us with his own personal experiences to relate to our daily lives. The trainer was able to let everyone have a ‘paradigm shift’ on how we can see things and to handle the same situation differently in order to have a better outcome.

One of the items that was highlighted during the training was called the ‘Amygdala Hijack’ which was pretty interesting.

Definition of ‘Amygdala Hijack’:

This is what happens when people “lose control of their emotions” when “hot buttons” is “pressed”. The result is their emotions are not used effectively in relationship.

They go through “volcano” eruption or “system” shutdown.

On reflection, they find it hard to explain why they acted the way they did.

‘Amygdala’ is human’s feeling brain. The ‘Amygdala’ which is pronounced as ‘ah-mig-dala’ is a tiny feeling brain that controls your emotional responses.

‘Amygdala Hijack’ is also known as Emotional Hijack where the feeling brain takes over your thinking brain. To avoid this situation, we can take a ‘6-seconds’ pause by taking a deep breath in and out before making any decisions or actions.

Sometimes, if we allow the ‘Amygdala Hijack’ to happen, it can be very harmful in many ways, such as spoiling relationships, bringing damage to ownselves as well as others. Therefore, we must always take control of how we react.

For further details, you can read the book “Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ” by Daniel Goleman.

This training actually gave MooMoo an insight of what had recently happened to her after the ‘Hair4Hope’ event. At that time, MooMoo was very angry at that particular '338' guy and I guess she didn't practise the '6-seconds' pause before she reacted. Haha... Sometimes, when she recalled back and thought if she had not reacted how she would have reacted when the incident happened, would things have not turned out as it is now.

Well, everything happens for a reason, whether good or bad, just gotta accept it. Anyway, what have been done cannot be reversed and life goes on. ^=^

Precious Moments Event 2010

This is MooMoo's 1st 'Precious Moments Event 2010' in Lion City on the 24th October 2010, right after the Nike City Run in the morning. It was practically an amazing race to rush back home from the run and rush back out to Raffles City for the event but it was worth it. ^=^

Thanks to great roomie, Piggy that MooMoo does not need to go to the event alone. It's not free some more but buying the event ticket worth $100 entitled you to redeem a limited edition 'St. Jude Event' figurine "Together We Will Win The Race!" worth about $80-90 and a goody bag worth $60. The figurine will be pre-signed by the sculptor Mr. Hiko Maeda.

These are some of the figurines on display during the event. Some figurines are not for sale and they are given out as lucky draw prizes for the event.

MooMoo also bought this Snow White and Dopey dwarf figurine... you know what, it is also out of stock and need shipment from overseas.... so, MooMoo just gotta wait patiently for her figurines to arrive safely. Hope they don't revert and say no more stock and I get the refund.

This is the most expensive piece at the event, worth $895.50 even after discount.

Despite the amazing race, MooMoo and Piggy enjoyed the event but their wallet got injured after the event. Hahahah....

Nike City 10K 2010

This is the Running-T for the ‘Nike City 10K’ on the 24th October 2010. MooMoo wanted to join the run because she liked the previous running T a lot. It was RED color for the past 2 years with the running bib number printed on it.

MooMoo is so unlucky coz this year it is no longer red but fluorescent yellow green but lucky the material is good coz it’s from NIKE. Ms. Mo would love this shirt a lot.

* MooMoo should be running in Malaysia huh… haha…

For the Nike City 10K run this year, there were no finisher medal but a finisher toy. MooMoo thinks that a finisher medal would be more appropriate and meaningful than a toy. Initially, MooMoo got a ‘male’ toy which she didn't really like BUT luckily, her friend helped her to change it to a ‘female’ toy with one of the guys there.

The weather was pretty good during the run as the heavy rain last night actually cleared up the haze. If the haze worsen this morning, the run may be cancelled. Lucky... lucky...

Kenny Rogers - SG vs KL

Kenny Rogers in Singapore is so different compared to the ones in KL.

The other day when Piggy came back from Taiwan, we went to eat dinner at Kenny Rogers at Novena Square. MooMoo found it so different... There's no gravy!!! And the things tasted different too. MooMoo loves the mashed potatoes in Kenny Rogers, KL but she doesn't really like the ones in SG.

This is how the 'Quarter Chicken Meal' looked like. The chicken is small and pathetic but the side dishes are in big portions. The muffins are different too. There' no choices like chocolate, banana or vanilla. They only have the sweet corn ones and they tasted so much like the "chi-tan-kau" (in mandarin). Can't really remember the name in English.

Really missed the Kenny Rogers in KL. Hahaha...

Free Running Shoes

Life is GREAT! coz... MooMoo got a free pair of running shoes from her company. All staff doing the GE Women 10K will get a pair of complimentary New Balance running shoes. (Model - WR749BR ->> Great for long distances and for those in search of mild stability control, the 749 trail runner features Abzorb® cushioning in both the heel and forefoot and a medial post for pronation control.)

Although MooMoo is not a fan of New Balance shoes, she is still HAPPY coz it's free. ^=^
Anyway, New Balance shoes are famous for running. It is pretty comfy but MooMoo just don't like the designs. MooMoo is a big fan of NIKE and she's OK with some Adidas designs but lately she can't find any that she like. MooMoo was just thinking about getting a new pair of running shoes and suddenly her company sent out email on this deal. Guess the lucky streak is still not finished. Hahaha...

* Hmm... can MooMoo wish for a rich and handsome prince now? Will it come true this time?

Staff Survey ->> Lies or Truth?!?

Recently, MooMoo's company just conducted a yearly 'Staff Survey'. Last year, MooMoo missed it as she was overseas. The very 1st year, MooMoo didn't really complete the survey with 100% honesty but this year, MooMoo completed the survey with 100% honesty. Everyone was debating on how truthful should they answer the questions.

Some of MooMoo's colleagues are so cute. One of them said that she must not be too truthful else she will not get her promotion. Then, her friend quickly responded that even if not truthful, also will not get the promotion... Hahaha... Some departments have briefing from their section heads before the survey, which is like telling the staff to carefully answer the questions.

Most staff would avoid being too honest during the survey in order to avoid any unnecessary trouble from their bosses or management if the survey method does not 'preserve anonymity' of the person completing the survey.

How to 'Preserve Anonymity' when the form requires you to complete the following details eventhough name is not required?
- gender
- age range
- position
- department
- how many years working in the company

Most important thing for the survey in staffs' perspective would be that after the survey, management would take the appropriate actions based on the staffs' feedbacks and honest responses during the survey. And the actions here are not taking actions of firing staff or penalizing staff due to their honest feedbacks. Hahaha...

Anyway, MooMoo don't really care and she is just stating the true facts and that's what the survey is for. If they can't take in feedbacks, then don't conduct the survey. = p

So, do you 'LIE' or tell the 'TRUTH' during 'Staff Surveys'?!?

Birthday Wishes and Gifts Showers ^=^

A ‘VERY BIG THANK YOU’ to all of MOOMOO’s lovely family, friends, buddies and BFFs (Best Friends Forevers) for all the meals, gifts and wishes.

Most of MooMoo’s friends are away on her actual birthday so the celebration was a week earlier. The celebration was on the same day of MooMoo’s 1st 30km run. Lucky, she survived the run to make it to the dinner. ^=^

MooMoo had lots of fun and a sumptuous great Japanese meal with the gang.

And MooMoo had received great gifts from all. I like them all very much. This is how the gifts looked like before I opened them. The ‘Leaning Tower of Pisa’ wrapped in cute present paper is an art of work by Ms. Mo. The very nice ‘red wrapper’ is from Piggy but the wrapping with the help of Mrs. Chicky. Hahaha….
Piggy’s present was a ‘running pouch’ which I wanted very much. It was very thoughtful of her…. Some more, Piggy arranged for a treasure hunt for MooMoo to search for the present in the room. I didn’t get to take a picture of it coz I actually used it before my birthday for my 1st 30km run on 10th October 2010. It was actually a support from her for my run too.

This is after the unwrapping of the presents…. I got a big nice 'Precious Moments' cushion from 'Lenglui Cat Lover' and a big 'Pooh' mug from 'Superstar Singer'....

These are from Ms. Mo and twin sister, 38 Sifu and another gym buddy. It’s a lovely notebook with quotes, a diary organizer and a small little talking black bean. Apparently, the bean is for lonely people…. So, I guess they are hinting that I’m so lonely that I need a talking bean to keep me company. Hahaha…. It comes with a lovely card with nice lovely words which very well described our relationships… kekeke…

It’s been GREAT getting to know these great ‘GYM KAKIs’ whom are close like sisters. ^=^

Hmmm… Ms. Mo is like hinting MooMoo on some things with the ‘Forget’ statement in the book…. Hahaha…. *shake head…

And thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Chicky who got MooMoo a ‘Betty Boop’ T-shirt from Universal Studio Singapore. It was a pity they could not join the birthday dinner as Chicky Pie was not in great health that time.

Mrs. Chicky thought MooMoo is so slim… got her a ‘L’ size instead of ‘XL’ size as the cutting is small and fitting. Hahaha… MooMoo goes to gym a lot but it only make her fitter but it didn’t make her any smaller. Well, lucky MooMoo can still wear it… I think it would not be a good idea to wear it to Buffet. Hahaha…

Anyway, the shirt is very nice with ‘Betty Boop’ wearing the bling-bling hat.

This is all the way from ‘Down Under’ from dearest ‘Tapir’. I love the card making magazines 'A LOT'! And it comes with a lovely ‘MooMoo’ card with sound. Piggy keep laughing when she 1st heard the sound coming from the card. Hahaha… I hope I can find some time to play with card making soon.
