MoonCake Making-FUN 4 MooMoo ^=^

MooMoo had LOTS of FUN making MoonCakes today. ^=^

It's the 1st time MooMoo's learning how to make Mooncakes. MooMoo was invited to this event called "We Care! To Make Mooncakes" organized by the "National Population and Talent Division" in Singapore.

Before we start making the Mooncakes, MooMoo had some tea with some new friends she met there. The tea was being served by this guy with a long nose teapot. It's really cool... MooMoo took a picture of him serving tea. When he poured the tea, the water was swirling in the cup all the way without spilling any drop of it.
Everyone was divided into their teams and they were a total of 3 tables with 5 to 6 groups. There were only 5 members in MooMoo's 'English Speaking' table. 2 were from Switzerland and another 2 from Korea. MooMoo called it the 'English Speaking' table because all the chefs are from China and do not speak English. There's one guy at our table translating everything that the Chef said from Mandarin to English.

The Chef started by explaining on the stages of the Mooncake making. MooMoo expected to learn making Mooncakes from scratch but... too bad... they already got all the dough and fillings ready. MooMoo only got to put them together. Hahaha. It looks easy but it ain't that easy till you get the hang out of it... especially on the moulding part.

The Chef said that MooMoo's team did very well. MooMoo's team were very organized and we made the most Mooncakes though our team had the least members. There were a few stages in the Mooncake making... i.e. Cutting and weighing the Mooncake dough and fillings, Wrapping up the fillings with the dough and lastly, getting it in and out of the mould.

MooMoo's team managed to make about 1 1/2 tray of Mooncakes, which is about 80 Mooncakes within an hour.
The Chef complimented on the Mooncakes that MooMoo's team made. They looked pretty good in shape for 1st timers.
After that, all the Mooncakes were sent to oven for baking. These are the Mooncakes specially prepared for us. MooMoo just got to know that freshly baked Mooncakes cannot be eaten. They have to be left in the air conditioned room for a few days before being packaged.
The Mooncakes that we made will also be packaged in this way. Then, it will be delivered to the needy families to celebrate the "Mooncake Festival". The hotel actually sponsor the total amount of Mooncakes that we made on top of the ones that we made. In total, we had actually made 425 Mooncakes so the Hotel will deliver 850 pieces of Mooncakes to the needy families.
After the Mooncake making session, all were treated to High Tea at the hotel. MooMoo took a picture on one of the cute dish "Porcupine Lotus Pau". Cute huh?!? hahaha... After eating the sumptious meal, everyone bid farewell and headed home with their Mooncakes.
All were also given some door gifts, which is a 2Gb thumb drive and a key pouch. MooMoo had a great experience, lots of fun, filled tummy and a bag of goodies. It was a meaningful event, by not only learning how to make Mooncakes but being able to let the needy families enjoying the Mooncakes that MooMoo made. ^=^
