Random Crappings: CULTURE

This morning while MooMoo was commuting to work, she thought about the MRT scenario and how it reflects the analogy of the working culture environments.

At first, she waited nicely in the queue for the next train and watched people squeezed themselves at the doorway and get stuck like sardines, kissing the MRT door... while at the middle of the train is actually still quite spacious.  After then 2nd train, MooMoo decided not to wait anymore... else, she will be late for work.  She said 'Excuse Me!' and squeezed herself in but got a bit stuck at the door... then she continue and tell them to let her go in as it's empty inside and squeezed herself further in... but you know what, they just won't move and gave MooMoo the death stare... MooMoo just ignored them.

In the end, MooMoo managed to squeeze herself in and happily enjoying the big space in the middle of the train looking at the pathetic people squashed at the doorway.  *sigh... that's how things are...

MooMoo just need to try her best to get of her house earlier than usual to avoid the crowd.  Even better if she could make herself wake up every morning to go to gym... which is pretty challenging for an nite-owl like her... hahaha... maybe it's nite-cow....

Never ending MRT scenario.... Let's put it this way...

Scenario 1:
If 10 people got out of the train but only 3-5 people managed to get back in the train.  Is there anything wrong?

Scenario 2:
If the train have not reached the destination and the train is very packed... is it considerate to squeeze yourself to the door?

Scenario 3:
If your destination is like 10 stops away, is it considerate to stand at the doorway?  MooMoo especially can't stand those who hold on to the poles and handrails like there's glue stick to their hands and the poles.  No matter where they shift, their hands stay on the poles.

Scenario 4:
Is it considerate to open up your book or newspaper till it eats up a person or two's spaces during peak hours?  It's not that you can't read or watch movie or play games but please be more considerate.

Scenario 5:
Is it considerate to stand at the door or barge in the train when people are alighting from the train?  You think what... play Rugby?!?

Scenario 6:
Is it considerate to sit down and watch the preggies, disabled or those in need standing... when they should be given priority to the seats?

Think there are many more to be mentioned...

Well, MooMoo bet with you that things will be different, "IF" we treat all the other commuters like friends or family members.  Of course, it will be very unlikely to happen.  Hahaha.

If the other commuters were our friends or family members, MooMoo is sure that things would be totally different.

- Would you actually squeeze yourself in the train and leave your friends or family behind?
- Would you not let your friends or family to alight before you get on the train?
- Would you not give way and let your friends or family get out of the train?
- Would you not move in further to fill up all the spaces available to let your friends or family get in the train together with you?
- Would you just sit and watch your parents or grandparent standing?
- Would you just sit and watch your preggy friends standing?

MooMoo can bet with you... even if not 100% of the people will treat their friends or family good but at least more than 80% would actually behaves differently if the other commuters were their friends or family members.

This really reminds MooMoo of working culture.  Imagine if everyone works like a family... things will be different and the teamwork will be superb.

In a family, there's always a father, mother and the children, who each takes up different roles and responsibility to keep the family going.   You cannot be having more than 1 father or mother... and all want to take charge.... well, there are families with more than 1 father or mother but it definitely takes more effort to keep the family going smoothly.

Imagine everyone sitting in the same boat, wanting to row towards their own directions... What will happen?  Will it get anywhere?  Or just ended up capsizing with all the people ended up drowning?

No doubt, there will be arguments and disagreements on certain opinions or actions but that's life.  If we were to resolve it within a family, things can be resolved easier without holding a grudge and being biased all the times.  In a family, you will actually take care of each other's interest and not trying to get everyone down, just to take care of your own butt.

Sometimes, MooMoo also understands that over time, people just give up and adopt themselves to the culture.  In example, 1st few times, people may queue nicely and let everyone alight from the train but keep ended up never getting in the train as the rest just squeezed themselves in from everywhere.
At the end, they will just give up and joined the majority who's not queuing in order not to lose out.

Same goes to working environment, being an angel at work all the times may not get you anywhere.  Therefore, people just end up being selfish in order to protect themselves, in order to move up.  It's a pity but it's reality!

At the end of the day, the culture begins and ends with people.  There's no culture if there's no people.  The people themselves actually defined their own culture.  And culture does not happen overnight... so to change it... it's not impossible but definitely it takes a lot of effort and time... and it all depends on each individuals to cooperate for the changes.

OK, maybe MooMoo is just expecting too much to live in a better world... hahaha... but MooMoo is always trying her best not to get influenced and do not want to end up being that way.  It's always easier to just go with the flow. OMG! But MooMoo can't really swim... will she drown?!? LOL!!!

MooMoo will treat all these as a challenge to train her patience and learn how to manage all these differences in creative ways.  Hahaha... and manage my expectations and to see things differently.

Enough of the crappings today.... had a good 7.96km run today and the weather was great!! ^=^
