MooMoo's 1st Rainstorm Full Marathon

MooMoo survived her 1st Full Marathon, despite the heavy rainstorm and injured knees.  What an experience...  MooMoo didn't manage to hit her target goal of 6 hours 30 mins but ended up with 7 hours 30mins++.  Anyway, she's glad she managed to complete the race.  Thanks a lot to her running buddy who ran and walked with her all the way to the finishing line.
MooMoo went to the running site really early around 11:15pm and the flagging off time is at 12:30am.  The starting point is just right outside the Nicoll Highway Circle Line MRT.  You will be amazed how kiasu people are... as there are already a lot of people at the starting point waiting to run.
The Half Marathon and the Full Marathon runners were all running together at the same timing.  MooMoo felt that this round the way it is managed ain't that great.  Well, this year they solve the issue of the transportation and the crowds being real late as they changed the location from Changi to City centre.  But, putting the 2 categories together, they didn't manage the crowd very well.  When you reach certain drinks station, they can't even give out the drinks on time and some ended up no more drinks and some station went chaotic.
For the 1st half of the run, it went pretty well till MooMoo felt sharp pain in her right knees.  MooMoo's stamina is in place as she didn't felt it in her body but her knees just kinda give way.  = (

MooMoo was pacing slowly in order to complete her race.  She took 45 mins to complete her 1st 5km and 85 mins for her 1st 10km.  By the time, she reached 15km it was about 2 hours.  She took about 3 hours to complete 21km and by that time, her knees were hurting badly.

She managed to take a picture halfway running across the bridge towards Marina Barrage.  It's her 1st time going to the Marina Barrage area.  The racing route was quite nice.
At the beginning of the race, the weather was so humid that MooMoo's sweat doubled up.  She never sweat so much in the morning hot sun.  Around 18km, it started to drizzle and the weather is pretty cooling after that.  What everyone didn't expected was that towards 21km onwards, the rain got heavier.  Everyone got drenched and there are quite a number who went for shelter, hoping to continue after the rain stop but it never stop till towards 38km onwards.

MooMoo and her running buddy continued to run and walk in the rainstorm as MooMoo knew that if she stopped, she would get too comfortable and may end up giving up.  MooMoo basically walked all the way for the 2nd half of the race as her knees really cannot take it anymore.  It is not doing any better walking in the soaked wet shoes.

At 21km, when the rain got heavier and her knees began to pain more, it really made her wanna cry thinking of her brother.  When you think that the rain is gonna stop, it got heavier and when you think that the pain is gonna stop, it got worse.  MooMoo's pain may be temporary but her brother's pain is constantly coming back to haunt him.

Sometimes, it's really hard to console her brother to hang on and endure the pain.  When we have pain ourselves, we are already complaining like mad.  Imagine 10 times of period cramp.  So when MooMoo think of her brother, her pain is nothing and she knows she just have to walk all the way towards the finishing line.  She also thought of the quote by Confucius, "It doesn't matter how slowly you go, so long you do not stop."  The last 10km was a painful 10km walk.  It was really endurance.

It is lucky that Ms. Mo is sleeping at home instead of running the race.  She would definitely rather have the super hot sun than the rainstorm.  Ms. Mo asked if MooMoo prefer rain or hot sun?!?  Well, MooMoo don't mind the rain provided her knees are well and it really helps if her shoes are waterproof.  Hahaha!  Anyway, we can't choose the weather like how we can't choose our lives, we just need to choose how we live it as some things just can't be changed.

MooMoo's happy that she managed to finish the race within the cut off time.  The cut off time was 8 hours.  MooMoo really salute her friend running for 9 hours 30 mins previously without training.
This is her 1st hard earned Full Marathon medal.  The back of the medal stated "I beat sunrise" but MooMoo never beat the sunrise.  LOL!  Anyway, MooMoo's glad she made it!!! ^=^
This is the after effects of the run.  Bad abrasion on both MooMoo's arms.  It's really damn painful especially when during bath.  = ((  And her poor feet after soaking in the wet shoes for 4-5 hours.... looked like old woman's feet.  Haha!
Here's Salonpas and Banana Boat's Aloe Vera gel coming to rescue.  Haha!  Felt much better after spraying Salonpas and applying the Aloe Vera gel.

* So sad can't go to my favourite STEP class tomorrow.... Will have to wait till next Mon.... = (  Will need to go for a good stretch at Balance class this week....
