MooMoo got another invite this year from the 'National Population and Talent Division' Unit for the 'Southern Ridges Walk'. It had been almost 1 year since the last walk that MooMoo went with Piggy. Last year, we didn't finish the whole walk due to the rainy weather.
This year, MooMoo bring Mrs. Chicky along for the walk. This year, the welcome gift pack is a little notepad with pen, a key chain for house-keys and a poncho.
They also provided hearty sandwiches from 'Cedele' for breakfast to all the participants. MooMoo and Mrs. Chicky ate while walking... a bit indigestion.... hahaha... This time round, didn't really get to take that many pictures coz' everyone was walking faster following the guide around for the explanation.
The walk started at 'Henderson Waves' at Mount Faber and ended up at 'Hort Park'. It was quite and enjoyable stroll all the way with informative explanation by Robert our guide of the day. He was the same guide MooMoo and Piggy had last year.
Robert's eyes were so sharp... checking out all the details and looking out for little animals or creatures to show to us. This is just a shell that is left on the tree by a 'CICADA'. It's pretty amazing huh... everything still looked intact and nicely stuck at the tree bark. It's a stage where the Cicada transform into an adult by shedding form its skin.
This is 'Fish-Tail Palm' tree. Can you see that the leaves all looked like fish-tails? The leaves actually looks like its bitten off by insects or animals but by nature, that's how they look like.
Then, we head to the 'Forest Walk' through the 'Elevated Walkway', accessed by the Metal Bridge. It is about 1.3km walk.
This is just a random picture that MooMoo along the walk but the quality ain't that good coz MooMoo's hand shaking and it's taken with her phone camera.
This it the 'Weaver Ants' nest. The ants just folded a fresh looking leave and weaved them together and make it into their nests. There are LOTS of ants inside there. If you disturb them, they can pinch you and not let go. So beware! Hahaha...
MooMoo came to this 'Southern Ridge Walk' a few times but never to bump into any monkeys, though there are lots of signs asking people not to feed the monkeys. This is the 1st time, MooMoo saw Monkeys here. They are not very friendly and you better keep all your food and plastic bags in your knapsacks or they will snatch from you.
Mrs. Chicky stayed far..far away when MooMoo went near to snap a few pictures of them. Mrs. Chicky don't like the Monkeys coz had trauma of them chasing after her when she was young. Mrs. Chicky said this is the grandpa monkey. Hahaha...
MooMoo found a man-made wishing tree along the way. People just write their wishes on a piece of paper and hang it on the tree.
Then, Robert pointed to us a 'Durian' tree along the way and there were lots of small durians hanging on the tree. This is the 1st time MooMoo see a real life Durian tree. Every time, she walked past that place, she didn't know that it was a Durian tree.
This is just some more random pictures that MooMoo took as she finds it pretty funny. The flower is so long and it looks like a big carrot, which is red in colour. MooMoo don't know the name of the plant as Robert is not around to explain anymore. Hahaha...
Another up close picture of the plant with a smaller version of the flower with ants. MooMoo thinks that it looks cuter when it is small.
This is a mini Banana tree, with its low growing fruit, which is almost touching the ground.
Random picture of the flowers at the Hort Park, which is our last destination of the walk.
One last picture taken on the Water Lily.... before MooMoo left the Hort Park to go for lunch.* After the walk, MooMoo actually thought of the phrase, "Don't forget to stop and smell the flowers along the way..." The wonders of nature... you can just go for the walk a thousand times but if you never stop to notice the surroundings and enjoy the beauty around you, it will just be merely a walk and nothing else. This is the same when it comes to LIFE. People usually hurry through their life and never enjoy their moments in life. Sometimes, we may even missed certain magical moments that could bring a big difference in our lives when we just never stop to pay a little attention to them. For life, it would be different as we cannot go back in time to re-live certain moments in life. So, just remember to cherish your moments, your family and friends in your life and "Don't forget to stop and smell the flowers along the way..." Sometimes, it can really makes a difference...though not all the times... ^=^
